Abdul-Aziz Hussein, prof.
He studied at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional in Versailles in Philippe Cuper's class. He graduated in clarinet at the Academy of Music in Zagreb in the class of Davorin Brozić. He began his musical education at the Zlatko Baloković Music School in Zaprešić, and continued at the Vatroslav Lisinski High School of Music in Zagreb, where he graduated in 2011 in the class of Bruno Philipp. In the same year, he enrolled in clarinet studies at the Academy of Music in Zagreb in the class of Milko Pravdić. During his studies, he was on an international student exchange at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in Tadej Kenig's class.
He is the winner of a total of seven 1st prizes at the Croatian competition for music and dance students, four of which are at regional and three at national competitions. In 2010, he participated in the selection of Croatia's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. In 2015, at the International Woodwind&Brass Competition in Varaždin, he was a laureate in the highest category of clarinetist. In 2016, he won the 5th Papandopulo Young Music Artists Competition.
He is the winner of numerous other awards, such as the Dean's Award, the HDS award for the best performance of the work of the Croatian author Ten Ivan Borić: A-D-H-D, awards and recognitions from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia.
He gave numerous recitals in the country and abroad, the most significant of which are the Musical Evenings in St. Donat, the Osor Music Biennale, the Zagreb Music Biennale, and he performed as a soloist accompanied by the Hrt Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Wind Orchestra of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.
He has participated in numerous seminars with eminent musicians and pedagogues such as Guy Deplus, Philippe Cuper, Mate Bekavac, Davor Reba, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Jože Kotar, Radovan Cavallin, Sharon Kam, Nicholas Cox, Chen Halevi, David Blumberg, Luis Gomes and others.
He cooperates with the Croatian Chamber Orchestra and the Zadar Clarinet Quartet.
