The tambourine department of the Zlatko Baloković School of Music operates very successfully despite being one of the youngest departments in our institution. The great interest of the students as well as the efforts of the professors have shown that joint cooperation and professional education can achieve notable results, thus contributing to the overall development and advancement of our traditional folk instrument, the tambourine, which at the same time represents the Croatian national heritage and gives special recognition to the Croatian culture. in the world.
Therefore, our tambura department has an important task in educating young and talented generations, from individual to group musicianship.
A special feature of this department is that it is one of the first tambura departments that started working and educating students in high school music. The tambura orchestra of the Zlatko Baloković School of Music, which was founded in 1995 under the direction of Dražen Varga, also operates in our institution. The tambourine orchestra has performed at numerous concerts of the Music School in the halls of the Croatian Music Institute, the V. Lisinski Concert Hall, and HTV.
In the school year 1999/2000. In 2010, the tambourine orchestra of the Music School is led by Prof. Svetlana Krajna. which in 2000 also won a gold plaque at the 23rd festival of tambura music in Osijek.
As a pedagogue, she excelled in working with numerous gifted students with whom she had special success and managed to bring their musicianship to a very high professional and pedagogical level and achieved significant success both in education and in numerous competitions. They are Juraj Slipac, Jakša Papafava, Danijel Pavlović, Denis Kos, Hrvoje Dupin, Hrvoje Lekić, Boris Zatezalo, Mario Sorić.
He is a member of numerous juries for tambourine soloists at county and state competitions. He is a member of the commission for making plans and programs for tambourine.
He is a mentor to numerous trainees on professional exams.
She performed in Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, France, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina as a soloist as well as with the HRT Tamburak Orchestra under the direction of Siniša Leopold.
He is the author of the Collection of Compositions for Bisernica and Brač, Etudes for Bisernica and Brač for Primary Music School as well as Collection of Compositions for High School Music: Merry Walk for Bisernica and Brač in the First Grade of Secondary Music School, Musical Moment for Bisernica and Brač in the Second Grade of High School music schools published by HDGPP.
Svetlana Krajna, biography
Graduated from the State Russian Music Academy of the Gnjesins in Moscow in the class of prof. V. Čunjina tamburu- domru. She is the winner of numerous awards at Russian folk instrument competitions. She was a soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic as well as a member of the famous Russian tambourine orchestra "Bajan", with which she performed throughout Europe and Asia.
She also performed as a soloist in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Russia.
She collaborated with the Tamburak Orchestra of the Croatian Radio Television under the direction of Siniša Leopold, as well as with numerous famous Croatian composers Ž.Brkanović, A.Marković, B.Potočnik, J.Njikoš, T Uhlik, D.Bobić, B.Starc. She recorded various programs for Croatian radio and television.
He is engaged in pedagogical work and conducting. At the Music School of the same name, he began working at the first secondary music school for tambourine in the Republic of Croatia.
In this way, numerous opportunities have been opened for current and future generations of young tambura players for thorough education, advancement and development of artistic playing on the tambura.
At her suggestion as well as with ideas, the first Competition of students of tambourine players - soloists begins.
Participates in the work on propositions for the county and state competition of tambourine soloists. Therefore, the 41st national competition for students of music and dance in Dubrovnik for tambura soloists had historical significance, taking into account that it is a Croatian folk instrument, and the organization of the competition in another discipline, such as the tambura, proved to be justified.
From the very first competition, her students have been achieving notable results at regional and national tambourine soloist competitions.
He participates in the work on new curricula for primary and secondary music schools and proposals for the tambourine competition.
He is a member of judging panels at county and state competitions both in Croatia and abroad.
Until 2005, she was the head of the professional activity for tambourine.
Since 2019 - artistic associate at the Osijek Academy of Arts and Culture within the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University.
It publishes professional literature for tambura players in cooperation with the Croatian Association of Music and Dance Pedagogues and the Croatian Association of Tambura Pedagogues.
In 2021, he will be promoted to the title of excellent advisor.
