Janko Ranogajec, Prof.

Professor Janko Ranogajec, born in Zagreb, is a lecturer at the string department (basic subject - violin) at the Zlatko Baloković Music College. After completing his education at Blagoje Bersa Music School, in 1980 he was enrolled at the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class of professor Kristijan Petrović. During his studies in 1984 he was the concertmaster of the International Youth and Youth Orchestra in Sonnenberg (Hannover). Upon completion of the studies in 1985, he earned the title of academic musician and violin professor. After graduating from the Zagreb Academy of Music he graduated from the Music Academy of Basel in the class of professor Radovan Lorković. He has participated in numerous seminars held by eminent world violinists professor Grigorij Žislin, professor Igor Ozim, professor Yfrah Neaman and professor Asja Kouchner. He has been continuously engaged in pedagogical work since 1985 as a violin professor at the Music Education Center at the locations of "Pavao Markovac" and "Blagoje Bersa" music schools. During his many years of experience in working with children and high school students, many of his students completed high school and many of them enrolled and graduated from the Academy of Music. His students participated in international, state and county violin competitions, from which they won the first prizes.

Since 1993, he has been employed at the "Ivan Zajc" Music School, where he was leading the violin class at the location in Zapruđe until 2000. From 2000 to June 2004 he was the school principal. Performing the function of the director did not make him neglect his pedagogic work, so he continued working with students at the school but also as an associate teacher of the Elly Bašić Music School. However, given the amount of his work and responsibilities of the school director, in a reduced scope. Working with children encourages them to love music, but without effort and hard work, there is no success.

By the end of 1991, he continued to cooperate as a member of the first violin section of the Croatian National Opera Orchestra in Zagreb, and since 1992 he has been engaged as a permanent member of the first violin section of the HRT Symphony Orchestra. He works with them today. By active performing he is constantly expanding the knowledge of music, encouraging personal playing and pedagogic development, thus enhancing knowledge transfer to younger generations.

During his collaboration with orchestras, he has performed in major European music centers, as well as throughout our country, and has played with many world-famous artists: singers, instrumentalists and conductors. He also worked with the Maribor and Rijeka opera orchestras. He was a member of various chamber ensembles, among them the leader of the second violin section, and the deputy of the concertmaster of the Croatian Chamber Orchestra from 1988 until 1990.
