Piano classes

As the largest department of our college, nearly 250 students of all ages are enrolled to the elementary and secondary music school piano program. There are 18 teachers on three locations: in Ivanićgradska Street, Travno and Zaprešić.

Piano was developed from harpsichord, clavichord and other related keyboard instruments.

Classes at the piano department are conducted according to the prescribed national curriculum for the musical education in the Republic of Croatia, covering the contents of: piano as a main subject, piano as a mandatory instrument, piano for the students of the music theory department, piano duo, piano trio, chamber music and accompaniment in cooperation with other departments of music college.

Students and teaching staff are permanently perfecting their knowledge through professional activities and seminars, concerts and festivals organized by the Ministry of Science and Education, the HDGPP, and independently.

The best students of piano department during the school year perform both at the public events and at the concert halls of the college as well as at the concerts at the Croatian Music Institute, the Croatian Museum of History, the Mimara Museum Hall and the HDS Hall. Extremely gifted students participate every year at domestic and foreign competitions for young musicians and achieve remarkable results. In addition to the mentioned activities, it is worth mentioning the successful participation of students and their teachers at the spectacular event called "24 hours of Chopin" in Croatian Music Institute on February 22nd, 2010, marking the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth.
