Ivan Kuruc, Prof.

Born in 1982, at the age of 9 he began to study accordion in class of professor Ankica Vujnović-Tonković. In year 1993 at the 31st contest of Croatian music students he won a 1st prize. At the international meeting of accordion players in Pula (1995) Ivan Kuruc won a 3rd prize. He enrolled secondary music education in class of professor Maja Bandalović at Zlatko Baloković Music College. Afterwards he became a student of professor Marjan Krajna in 2000. His studies started in 2003 at the University of Philosophy in Pula in the class of professor Dražen Košmerl.

Already next year he won a first prize on the county competition of accordion students and the same year he won very important 3rd prize at State competition in Varaždin. In 2006 he won a 2nd prize at the International meeting of accordionists. Ivan Kuruc was member of various chamber ensembles such as: Academic accordion orchestra „Ivan Goran Kovačić“, Academic accordion orchestra of University of Juraj Dobrila in Pula and Stanko Mihovilić in Pula, with whom he gained number of awards in Croatia and abroad. He graduated in 2008 in the class of professor Dražen Košmerl at Juraj Dobrila University in Pula.

During studies he was professionally trained on seminars led by world acknowledged pedagogues (A. Skliarov, Y. Shishkin, P. Soave, L. Gore, J. Crabb, J. M. Fabbiano and others).
